30 Days of Thankful - Day 3

Day 3: For Goose!

As many of you know by now, my cancer treatment left me in the terribly sad position of being infertile... or so the physicians told me for 13 years.  However, over 3 years ago, DH and I discovered I was pregnant with our (first) miracle baby.

After an emergency two-day stay in the hospital for contractions at 32 weeks, Augusts arrived on the scene 5 weeks later.
Now over 3 years old, Goose has developed into a spirited youngster.  His energy and individuality teach me so much every single day, and for that I am so grateful.

Just yesterday, he decided he wanted to wear a pink Hawaiian lei to school and sure enough, Gussy rocked the pink lei all day long.

For dress-up day at school, 90% of the boys in his class dressed as spider man but Goose settled on being an executive dinosaur.  Here in Boston, it is easy to become just another person in the crowd; Tory Burch shoes: check, Longchamp tote: check, etc...  But Gus reminds me every day how awesome it is to simply be yourself.

Of course, his individuality can only be outdone by his passion for life.  I often feel like I'm living in a musical production; he regularly communicates via song and dancing is his primary method of transportation.

Although Donny is not thrilled with the music choice, Goose and I have some great dance parties now, complements of Carly Rae Jepsen and Katy Perry.  I love teaching Gussy all of the classic dance moves that somehow lost their thrill over the years (e.g. the lawn mower, shopping cart, sprinkler, etc) and cannot thank him enough for helping me re-learn how to be silly again.

Most of all, Goose is incredibly caring, with the exception of days when he skips his nap.  He loves his little sisters more than I ever thought a 3 year old boy was capable of (I envisioned cars flying off of ramps into their cribs as they slept)I am so grateful that he is such a rock-star and is already acting more like a young man with each passing day.

  1. I love him so much, and love that he got the full blown Hall constant musical production gene.
