30 Days of Thankful - Day 7

Day 7: For the changing seasons

As today's weather rapidly transitioned us from fall to winter, it became apparent what today's topic should be. For as long as I can remember, I have loved living in the Northeast and experiencing the seasons. The change in weather and wildlife always renews my spirit

Although shorter days and colder temps are close by, autumn brings such amazing beauty to the hills of New England and is by far my favorite season.

Winter snow is simply gorgeous and allows for so many recreational pursuits. I know it's cold, but who doesn't love cuddling by the fire with some hot spiced cider? It's also possible that winter ranks highly on my list because it reminds me of so many great childhood memories; sledding off the side of the highway and making snow castles on my front lawn during snow days (with almost 8 ft of snow each year it's easy to do). Also, I have recently discovered that you look completely BA if you go running in the snow, which is inevitable if you live in Boston and train for the Boston Marathon.

By the end of winter, I very much look forward to seeing crocuses, daffodils, and apple blossoms. Everyone seems to just come alive again as Spring begins and festivals start up.

With a degree in biology and having worked at a plant nursery, I think I'm just naturally drawn to summer. And, the list of outdoor fun is endless; hikes with Kiley, backpacking with Donny, chillin in the yard with Goose, bbq's with friends, outdoor concerts, etc

In summary, the seasons of the Northeast rock and I am so grateful that I get to experience four versions of where I live every single year.
